A residential painting course in the Dordogne, SW France where you will learn how to fake some of the world's greatest paintings.

During your week with Stuart (Monday to Saturday) you will learn the secrets of the Great Masters and produce a stunning fake that you will be proud to hang on your wall at home! And it's all above-board and legal so long as you don't try to pass it off as an original!

This is an excellent way of understanding the methods of artists such as Vermeer (see 'Girl With a Pearl Earring' right), Degas, and Monet amoung others.

A 'natural photocopier'...

Artist and designer, Stuart Davies, was considered skilled enough to be legitimately employed as a 'legal forger' for a company that produced copies of old masters. These were sold to private collection throughout the world.

UK born Stuart is a professional artist, designer and photographer. At Eastbourne School of Art and Design he studied drawing, painting, photography, print-making, typography and art history.

Teaching...

Stuart is a patient and gentle teacher who passes on his extensive knowledge and immense skill with calm efficiency. He says "I believe that everyone can be taught to draw and paint to a certain level. Once you know the 'trade secrets' it becomes quite simple. Also, I believe that people are more receptive to learn if you communicate in a manner that doesn't intimidate them."

RETURN AIRPORT/RAIL TRANSFERS:
We pick you up in our own seven-seater vehicle each Monday afternoon and drop you off the following Saturday morning. Destinations include Limoges airport, and Brive la Gaillarde and Sarlat train stations (see details of our airport and rail transfers).

Transfers are conducted on a first come first served basis. Detailed dates and times are to be agreed with us prior to booking your travel arrangements, so please do not book tickets until you've agreed them with us.
ACCOMMODATION:
Accommodation is normally on-site, but, under exceptional circumstances, 1 & 2 day guests may be accommodated at a very pleasant nearby B&B 5km away.
NUMBERS:
The optimum number of participants on a course is six, but sometimes we have fewer than that and have occasionally taken up to ten.
ITINERARY:
